The Sisters Three GMK3050
Thanks for looking at another one of my posts. This one however will offer a new twist on my obsession with Mammoet. As with all things with a
twist, there is a story behind it. And as many of you know, I like to be long winded in these posts as I have many voices in my head talking at
once, all trying to add their two cents worth. So here is the story of the sisters three!
First this post is a directly blamed on this awesome DHS forum. One day over a year ago I was minding my own business, checking email and
petting one of the dogs on the couch. In my inbox is an email from a name I did not recognize, however the reference was to Mammoet. This
happens from time to time and I am always eager to read and respond. I opened and read. To my astonishment it was from a guy, lets call him
Mr. X, who informed that he worked for Mammoet and had found my web site via a post on the DHS forum. He asked if I would mind
corresponding with him regarding Mammoet. Mr. X went on to explain his involvement with Mammoet and Van Seumeren over a long career. My
hands trembled as I wrote a carefully and gushing YES response.
Over the course of the last year, Mr. X and I have had frequent exchanges and have even spoke over the phone. I have learned so much about
Mammoet and the world of extreme heavy lift and extreme heavy haulage. Mr. X has given me a ton of great info and pictures of things
Mammoet. Alas, like forum friend Tim T, most of these pictures are from private collections and I cannot share them here, but believe you me its
some amazing stuff.
Mr. X also has one heck of a diecast model collection, and way more red and black than I could hope to ever own. And then it came, the request
if I would entertain a repaint. However this repaint would be like others but different. One Mammoet per the usual red and black, one Mammoet
in yellow and grey and one Van Seumeren red and black. Of course I said yes. And with Mr. X’s permission granted, here are the sisters
three.
Sisters as they arrived:

Sisters taken apart

The Sisters primed and ready for paint

One of the Sisters had to have a different primer for the yellow parts. I have mentioned this before, when painting with a new color, especially a
light or bright color, I get four pieces of sheet metal and leave one plain, then primer one each with white, red and grey primer. I then paint each
piece with the color in question and use the one that best matches the target color. If you have never tried this before, try it once with yellow and
see what the exact same color looks like over different bases. You will be amazed.

Sisters painted and ready for assembly

And now to assembly of one of the sisters

And the Sisters three in their new colors

Although painted and looking good, I always look forward to the final phase-decals. These little touches are in my opinion what pull the model
together. For your final review, the Sisters three decked out and ready to roll:

I hope you have enjoyed this post, and Mr. X if your out there lurking, I hope you enjoy your models and thanks for allowing me to paint and post
them!
