Mammoet PPG Container Stacker

Hello group! Once again I have been out in the garage working on converting the world to Mammoet. At the DHS Open House this year I loaded up on projects and here is the result of this past weeks work!! This is actually a five model conversion and it sure used a lot of red paint! Compared to the last conversion the GMK1035, this conversion was a breeze and quite pleasurable. I bought these and converted them in anticipation of the 2007 release of Mammoet’s PTC 1:50 scale crane model. I give you Mammoet containers and the Joal PPM Container Stacker. I hope you enjoy it!

First, this is the container that comes with the Mammoet Volvo Low loader and Container. I post this to offer a comparison of my conversion.

And now here is my conversion of the two 20 foot PPM containers that come with the Joal Stacker: I also added the weight and tariff door decals in both English and metric units.

At the DHS Open House as part of the purchase I could not pass up these awesome NZG 40 foot containers. They started out as P&O, but now they proudly fly the red of Mammoet, complete with massive Mammoet markings. These were the most difficult decals I have ever applied as the surface is anything but flat, it is very wavy. This made any adjustment of the decal once applied almost impossible. I wound up using a lot of Solvaset, almost a lake of it to suspend the decal above the corrugation till I started to set it by rubbing the decal in the valleys with a q-tip. It took about 30 minutes a side to do it, but I am real pleased with how it came out.

All the boys stacked together ready to deploy all their rigging contents and field equipment contained in side:

And here is the stacker in its most compact form.

Here is the stacker holding one of the 20 foot containers that it came with. It looks great!!

And this stacker can also handle the 40 footers as well, with the grab arms spread wide.

And here is a shot of another challenging decal, the safety striping on the rear of the unit. I made the decal on white backed water slide paper using a simple $20 cad program that allows perfect geometric positioning of lines. (I also used this program to make all the container marking decals, which are all numerically different giving each container a individual Mammoet and Container number).

And finally a group shot of the whole stacker and container family. Now the stacker at this time does not pick up the 40 footer, they will require a little modification, but not tonight.

I hope you enjoyed the pictures and I am off to the shop to start the next conversion. I have 12 more models on the shelf, I think maybe a crane next……
