The Great Truck Build Off
Part 1:
There I was one evening, sitting down after an evening of repainting something or another in the garage. As is my habit, I give a quick check of
the forum first and take a quick review of threads I have responses or questions in and a quick look for new ones that may be of immediate
interest. Like most of us, I eventually get around to reading all the posts in detail as I like to learn-even if they are about dirt stuff! I had noticed a
post by forum friend patricklaforge (here after referred to as Pat) looking for someone to build him some trucks. I arched an eyebrow as I thought
Pat was a custom builder and a great one at that! It seemed a strange request to me.
A day or so later I got an email from Pat asking if I would be interested in an idea and project he had. As he stated, he was looking to do a model
swap. Basically we each build a model for each other and then exchange it-blind. As he explained we each get the satisfaction of doing a build
but all get the excitement of getting a new model-after all isn’t package day one of the best days ever! The box is awaiting you when you get
home-a new treasure to enjoy!
I have to say I was flabbergasted!! It was very flattering to have a model builder like Pat ask me to join in him in this very clever enterprise. I shot
him an email back saying heck yes I was interested. I also cautioned him that to date I was mostly a repainted, not a fabricator but would love to
expand my model hobby. I also asked what kind of model did he have in mind? Pat emailed me back introducing me to his favorite livery Cardi
and we were off?
Part 2:
PACKAGE DAY!!!!! Welcome to the second part of Patrick Laforge and my joint post!! In the last part we shared with you all the idea Pat had
for us to each make each other a model for our fleets-he making me a Mammoet truck and me making him a Cardi truck. We had a ton of fun
with the project and on Monday sent each others package off-blind not knowing what was coming.
And has the fates would have it we got each others packages today!! I was so eager to get home that I cut out of work a minute or two early
today, came home and my wife, bless her heart had the package on the table with the box cutter out sitting next to it. The following pictures show
you what I got!
In just a word-fantastic, incredible, superior, wow, stunning, supper, wonderful and holy crap!!! Pat really did me a great model and made a
superior model that is unique-I have the only one and the fleet is better for it!!
A personal word here, I am honored that Pat asked me to join him in this endeavor. There are so many talented people on this forum, all
incredible builders and customizers to choose from. And here I am a virtual rookie to the hobby and I get the call! Thanks a million Pat.
So without further ado, my package:

Tomorrow I will decal the truck out in full Mammoet style and there will be another post so please check back!!
