Heavy Haulage Display Case

Just a quick little post. My crane table was being over run by heavy haulage and the cranes have had enough. They told me to get moving on building a shelf or something for them. So I put this display cabinet together. It measures 61"w x 37"h x 9"d. The inside display area is 60"w x 36"h and the shelves are 6 inches. With the help of a neighbor who works for a glass company, I had two glass sliding doors made with what is know as show track-great set with ball bearing rollers and guides. He also made me the shelves with rounded edges. The case construction is extremely simple using all plywood (3/4" thick) and a simple face frame. Due to the weight involved with the case, the glass and the models I used a combination of glue and screws to put it together, all hidden from view of course. It is simply hung on the wall using a board cut a a 45 degree angle and then affixing one to the wall and one to the back of the case. A common type hanging method for furniture.

The cabinet can be easily produced with only a table saw and a dado blade set. In the coming weeks I plan on adding four more cases. If you all would like I can do a step by step "how to" post and you can make your own. Thanks for looking.
