The Story of Seven Cranes and their Transformation - Part IV
Welcome to the fourth and final part of the story of the Seven. Once they were happy until the wise and learned bluebarn came along and noticed their lack of family unity. At his request, I bob, of the red and black guild, have given them their new family colors. In today’s final installment we will go through the final detailing that transforms them from mere painted models to identifying them with their new Mammoet family, adding the decals. These little items add the detail that brings it all together. I hope the mage bluebarn will be pleased…….
When performing magic in the shop, it is very, very important to have a clear mind and work space-and most importantly plenty of nourishment!!

The first part of detailing is to paint the headlights, tail lights and then finally the turn signals.

And the other members of the guild may not like this, but here is a wizards potion that is a must for working with decals-Solvaset. It helps to allow the decal to slide for proper positioning. Once positioned, dab the decal with a dry towel to remove excess liquid. As the Solvaset dries it pulls the decal to the surface and forms it to the contours of the model, including over grating and door creases. Good stuff!!!

Here we start with the blank model

I first add the safety stripping to the model, all four outriggers and the counter weights

Then I do the front bumper and both sides of the boom tip

After all the safety stripping is done, then we move to the family crests, starting with the drivers side. Doors get the Mammoet and mammoth as does the main boom. A www.mammoet.com goes to the crane body, then a home for the fleet number. I also add a mammoth to the front bottom of the crane control cab.

Then turn the unit and do the counter weight, which I usually give a www.mammoet.com, and in this case a Demag label as well. Then taking a little artistic license, I usually add a mammoth to break up the color.

And then the passenger side..

And finally the front under the window gets a Mammoet and mammoth. And if you desire one on the hook block as well. And ta-da:

And now the newly decorated Mammoet family members get formal portraits, presenting the OK TH40

Presenting the Demag 170

Presenting the twins, Demag 130’s

Presenting the Liebherr LTM1100

Presenting the Demag 445

Presenting the Demag 435

And finally the complete family portrait

This post has been a lot of fun and my work for bluebarn is now complete, for the time being anyway……………
